Secluded bicycle paths.....

Snow has fallen on the many Mountains around us, and the days are clear and fresh...we have a fire going most nights to take the chill of the air, and hot water bottles are back in the beds, warming the sheets before we snuggle down.

With both children busy for the day..Stella at school and Ruben playing with a little friend, and the husband busy at work, Dean and myself loaded the bikes and some snacks and set off for a lovely bike ride on a disused railway track with views to the mountains, past sleeping cats in the sun, through small hamlets, squirrels scampering up trees, tunnels through the limestone escarpement, over high bridges, past cows with bells and horses with snuggly foals and it was all flat..it was very enjoyable. I will take the children here in a few weeks when there are more Autumn leaves in abundance on the path, so we can hear the rustling, and see them silently fall.

We followed a meandering lane home, and encountered a huge sparkling lake, and unfortunately a crash with another car only minutes from home....we were both coming around a corner, on a gravelly road, and slid slowly towards each other head on, no one was injured and we were able to drive the cars, was not anyones fault really, but I was grateful he was a lovely young man who spoke english very well, and we all had a chat whilst filling out forms for insurance...he was a tatoo artist and was off to Nepal for 8 months to be inspired for patterns and to attend a seminar. The mishap ended with a smile, which is always good!
