Spreading our wings....

Our journey took us to a place nestled in a remote knotch of a valley surrounded by towering cliffs and cascading waterfalls. The fern fringed roads led us to our home for the night, a wooden cabin, with the sound of a babbling brook closeby, squirrels frollicking amongst branches, and yellow autumn leaves falling silently.
We made our cosy nest for the night and settled outside on the deck to share some local cheese, pork terraine, and a baguette washed down with a glass of red, and later the sound of the rushing water lulled us to sleep................
We woke to a calm sunny day, and explored the quiet village. Settling in to a restaurant on the main street, we watched the sleepy village wake up......a farmer with his arm in a sling moving horses from one side of town to the other, old men with wrinkled tanned skin riding bikes with baguettes, hunters returning with there dogs close by, and a young boy singing whilst setting tables for his parents restaurant.
After much discussion on the local life and a delightful cafe le creme, we found a forest path leading to a majestic waterfall, and spent the next few hours in the shade of trees, sat on warming rocks, walked on the spongy leaf litter floor, and cooled our feet in the clear water. We also lost each other for an hour, misinterpreting our meeting spot, each thinking the other was lost...we finally found each other, with many angry words and dissapointing looks shared......we realised it was both our faults and continued on with smiles.... We slowly made our way home, leaving the sun to set behind us...... our union now nurtured and loved once again.....
