We decided over the school holidays to put Stella in the local Ecole, instead of the Steiner Ecole, for various reasons. The travel, the cost, the extra work load for parents....and seeing as we are here for only another 9 mths, we thought our money would be best spent on holidays, and the local school is quite alternative in its own way.
Stella had her first day today in the local school. Very excited and nervous this morning, so was the mother! There is a couple of English girls in the class who she knows, which will make the day a bit easier for her. Big days, 9-4.30!
Ruben and I picked her up in the afternoon, and the sun decided to shine, making the drive very pleasurable. She seemed happy and full of life, so that was good, might here more about it over dinner or the next few days. Lundi is full day, Mardi is 9-12, Mecredi there is no school, Jeudi is all day, and Vendredi is 9-12. I think she will love it, and also the mother will enjoy one child for alot of the week!!
She had a funny story about the toilet, could of been a bidet, who knows....as she was on the toilet, there was a string hanging down from the ceiling close by, so being an inquisitive 5 year old, she pulled it! Sure enough it was the flusher, and it squirted her bottom!! That was her highlight of the day..and the English lesson in the afternoon, where they sang classic songs, baa baa black sheep, and read a book in English, she was very impressed by this.
She seems to of grown up all of a sudden. I was proud of her today.
